Court sends Barish Sharma to police custody for 4 more days

Imphal, October 27 2023:
Manoharmayum Barish Sharma, a key accused in the Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai firing, has been remanded to four more days of police custody (till October 30) by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today.
Barish Sharma is the former president of BJYM, Manipur Pradesh.
In the previous hearing of the case on October 25, co-accused Alex Ningombam had disclosed that he took a pistol from the vehicle of Barish Sharma and that he was accompanied by the escort of the latter while trying to abduct one Bobo Khaidem from his residence at Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai.
Five persons were injured in the firing incident which took place on October 14 .
The police sought five more days police remand of the former BJYM, Manipur president.
The IO of the case through APP submitted that police have seized one .45 pistol along with two magazines and 20 live rounds and one unregistered Mahindra Scorpio used in the crime from the disclosure of Barish Sharma.
Barish, however, didn't disclose the identities of the other accused.
The IO went on to state that the police team recovered empty cases of 9mm cartridges from the spot but the 9mm pistol in the firing hasn't been seized while seeking five more days of police custody remand of Barish to identify other accused.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded Barish Sharma to four more days of police remand.
It may be mentioned that five persons including vice president and secretary of BJYM, Manipur Pradesh have also been arrested in connection with the case and they all have been sent to judicial custody till November 6 by the same Court in the previous hearing.
The five accused are Alex Ningombam @ Gulu (26), s/o Ajit and Gurumayum Rayban (24), secretary BJYM Manipur Pradesh, s/o Robindro both from Brahmapur Laljilakpa Leikai, Nongthombam Tony Meitei (36) vice president of BJYM Manipur Pradesh, s/o (L) Kumar of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai presently staying at Nungoi Makha Leikai, Ningthoujam Vicky (30), s/o N Bhorot of Kongba Nandeibam Leikai and Khaidem Nibas (33), s/o Lukhoi of Singjamei Wangma Pebiya Pandit Leikai.
