Draft photo electoral rolls published

Imphal, October 27 2023: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur Pradeep Kumar Jha has appealed to all eligible citizens to come forward and enrol their names in the electoral rolls and also sought their active participation in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election.

As per the schedule fixed by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls of all 60 (sixty) Assembly Constituencies of the state were published on Friday by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) concerned.

Speaking at a press meet held at the conference hall of CEO, Manipur, Lamphelpat, here, on Friday, CEO Pradeep Kumar Jha informed that as per the Draft Electoral Rolls 2024, gender ratio stands at 1066 as compared to 1068 in Final Electoral Rolls, 2023 published on January 5, 2023.The Elector Population Ratio is recorded at 55.04 per cent as compared to 57.35 per cent in the previous rolls.

The total number of electors as per draft electoral rolls is 20,08,432 showing a net decrease of 49,422 electors from the Final Electoral Roll, 2023 which was 20,57,854.Polling stations have also been rationalised during pre-revision period by District Election Officers (DEOs) through held verification by EROs and in consultation with political parties.

No new polling station was created, while 17 Polling Stations have been shifted to better locations.

The total number of polling stations remains at 2,955, he added.

Jha further informed that the Special Summary Revision, with respect to January 1, 2024 as the qualifying date, starts from Friday with the publication of Draft Electoral Rolls.

Publication of Integrated draft electoral rolls is on October 27, 2023.Period for filing claims and objections will be from October 27 to December 9 and special campaign dates are November 4 and 5, and December 2 and 3.The disposal of claims and objections will be done on December 26 and the final publication of electoral rolls on January 5, 2024 .

The CEO further informed that during this period, one can enrol, delete, make corrections and apply for shifting of his/her name in the electoral rolls.

Application forms may be submitted to the Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers through physical forms.

Application forms may also be submitted online at https://voters.eci.gov.in and Voter Helpline Mobile App, he added.

Jha continued that people who are going to attain age of 18 years and above with January 1,2024 as qualifying date and subsequent qualifying dates of the year i.e., April 1, July 1, and October 1, may submit their claims in Form-6, in advance, beginning from the date of draft publication of the electoral roll (i.e., October 27, 2023).The applications received related to qualifying date January 1 will be processed as per schedule and electoral roll will be updated in the final publication.

While the forms/claims with respect to the three subsequent qualifying dates of the year, received in advance, during the Special Summary Revision (SSR) period and continuous updation thereafter shall be processed by the EROs under continuous updation during the relevant quarter, preferably in the first month of the quarter, he said.

Stating that in order to enrol more young voters in the electoral rolls, intensive activities will be taken up in educational institutions, universities and colleges during the revision period; the CEO said that Electoral Literacy Clubs will be activated, special camps organised in schools/colleges/universities to create awareness and facilitate registration of prospective voters in the electoral rolls.

He also said that special drives will also be undertaken to facilitate Internally Displaced Pedple-(IDP) to enrol their names in the electoral rolls.

Special campaigns will be conducted in relief camps to facilitate enrolment of the eligible voters and make the people aware of the importance of voting, he added.

Ahead of the Press Meet, the CEO held a meeting with the representatives of all political parties on Special Summary Revision - 2024 .

The CEO said that general public/electors and the representatives of political parties may inspect/verify the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls at the offices of the EROs/AEROs and with all the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and they may also visit Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur's website https://ceomanipur.nic.in to inspect the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls.

As part of the programme, the CEO also flagged off a Mobile Publicity/Awareness Van and a pledge was taken to uphold the democratic traditions of the country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections and to vote in every election fearlessly.

The Mobile Publicity Van was launched by CEO Manipur in collaboration with Manipur Innovation Society (MIS) and targeted to reach every nook and corner of the state.

The press meet was also attended by additional CEO N Praveen Singh, joint CEO Ramananda Nongmeikapam, top officials and staff of CEO, Manipur.
