Reacting to a press statement issued by one Washington Meitei, Publicity Officer of KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman), United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) has clarified that the outfit and its armed wing Kangleipak People Army (KP Army) have no connection with Nongmaithem Sunil s/o Monbihari of Ningthoukhong Kha Ward No 7 as mentioned in Washington's statement.
A press release issued by Secretary-in-charge Information and Publicity Department, District Committee Member, Khuman Laishramcha said that the outfit was not involved in the threatening of KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) members using the name of one Lakpa alias Chingkheinganba of UPPK.
The press release added that UPPK was neither involved in the extortion of Rs 50 thousand from Moirang-Imphal Tata Magic Association in connivance with Bishnupur District police commandos nor in the collection of Rs 7000 from jeweller Thouchom John s/o Surambi of Ningthoukhong Anouba Thouchom Leikai on July 9 last as alleged by Washington Meitei.
UPPK asked Nongmaithem Sunil, who is said to be involved in these cases, to contact the outfit within five days.
