Bodies retreived, Court of Inquiry on, crash site at Tempu adjacent to Dzuko valley

Bodies of all three Army officers who were killed in an Army helicopter crash on the border of Nagaland and Manipur this morning have been recovered.
The chopper belonged to the Aviation Section of the Indian Army.
The wreckage of the chopper was found at Tempu hillock, which lies adjacent to the picturesque Dzuko Valley.
Sources said that the chopper had crossed Viswema village on the border and had ventured about 5 kms into Manipur's territory, as the crow flies.
According to our staff reporter, who rushed to Viswema village to get a first hand account, the three bodies of the late soldiers were found at a place known as Tempu hillock, which is about a 7 to 8 kms climb from the National Highway running below.

An informed source said that the chopper which took off from Rangapahar and supposed to land at Imphal Airport, crashed at about 8.45 am in a Dzuko valley location, close to Viswema village of Nagaland.
A PRO IGAR (S) release quoting the Media Officer of HQs 3 Corps said the Cheetah chopper was going from Rangapahar in Dimapur where the 3 Corps is based, to Imphal on a routine training sortie when it ran into bad weather and crashed near Jakhama.
However independent sources said that the chopper developed a technical snag.
Immediately on receiptof the disaster, rescue operations was launched to trace the wreckage as well as survivors, if any.
Villagers of Viswema said that the weather was bad and not at all conducive for aerial surveys, when the crash occurred.
The deceased Army officers have been identified as Colonel PK Pal, Pilot Major Nikhil Rana and Co-Pilot Major Rakesh Sharma.
even as the bodies have been sent to Naga Hospital Kohima for post mortem, a Court of Inquiry has been ordered by the Army authorities.
GOC 3 Corps, Lt General NK Singh among others has expressed grief over the unfortunate incident, the PRO release added.
All three Army officers belonged to the 7003 Bn Electrical and Mechanical Engineering unit of the Indian Army, informed the PRO further.
