The State Government has reportedly assured representatives of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO to rectify the employees' pay anomalies, one of seven demands being pursued by the employees' body.
The pay anomaly rectification would be processed and completed within September, said an informed source while reminding that the JAC had resorted to a prolonged ceasework strike before the employees resumed duty following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government on May 19 .
The assurance to judiciously look into the pay anomaly was conveyed to JAC members at a review meeting held today at the Chief Minister's Secretariat with the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, forest Minister Th Debendra, Health Minister Ph Parijat, Principal Secretary (Finance), Commissioner (Art & Culture), Additional Secretary (DP) and PIC officials representing the Government of Manipur.
JAC vice president M Manihar, general secretary Ch Chandramani, secretary (Adm) W Inaocha, Manipur Secretariat Service Association general secretary L Porojit and Manipur State Pensioners' Union president H Yaima also attended the meeting.
It is informed that the Government assured that the disparity in the allowances enjoyed by employees of Central and State Government but working under the same roof would be discussed at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for August 20 .
Apart from the Government making a commitment to bridge the yawning gap in employees' allowances, the review meeting also deliberated on the issue of employment opportunity under die-in-harness scheme.
Moreover assurances were given for favourable consideration on the JAC's proposal for regularisation of muster roll employees and to fix daily minimum wages of employees after comparison with other States, the source informed.
Apart from the Government confiding to the JAC members that an order would be issued for release of arrears, and to consider increasing medical allowance of pensioners from Rs 100 to Rs 300 each, the source conveyed that the Government is keenly studying all aspects for extending service period of its employees.
The pay anomaly has been a recurrent problem between the JAC and Govt.
