Giving a detailed account of the camp's history KNO's defence secretary TS Haokip said Camp Salem was started way back in March 2009 with the objective of completing it within six months.
However it took 16 months to complete it due to the delay in releasing funds and some other unforeseen circumstances, he said and added that this is the second camp to be completed among the four designated camps approved for them.
Salem, meaning peace, is adapted from the Bible.
With an OC as an overall in-charge of the camp, it will house up to two hundred cadres, said Haokip.
He also declared before the gathering that all the terms agreed upon by the organization under the SoO will be strictly adhered to in the camp with immediate effect.
'As of now we have stationed around 60 cadres, but beginning tomorrow many more will turn-up.
Therefore I seek the co-operation of the surrounding villages,' he told the gathering in an apparent reference to the adjoining village chiefs.
