Call to end violence, restore peace continue to pour in
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, June 18 2023: Expressing grave concern over the ongoing conflict in the State, several organisations and groups have appealed to the people of Manipur to end the cycle of violence and proceed for a peaceful resolution.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has appealed to the entire civil society, political groups of Manipur, and common people to take every possible initiative to put an end to the present chaotic & violent situation and ensure the safety of human life and permanent peace in the state of Manipur.

In a release, RSS asserted that the continuous violence that is going on in Manipur for the last 45 days is extremely worrisome.

''The violence and uncertainty that started in Manipur after the protest rally organized in Churachandpur on May 3, 2023, at the time of Lai Haraoba festival is to be condemned'', it added.

RSS continued that it is very unfortunate that the spate of unrest and violence that erupted afterward among those who have been living a peaceful life with mutual harmony and cooperation for centuries has not yet stopped.

"The Sangh stands with the displaced persons and other victims of the Manipur crisis numbering more than 50,000 during this period of terrible grief.

RSS is of the considered opinion that there is no place for violence and hatred in a democratic setup, and also believes that the solution of any problem is possible only through mutual dialogue and expression of brotherhood in a peaceful atmosphere'', it added.

Appealing to everyone to overcome the deficit of trust among each other which is the cause of the present crisis, RSS said, "It requires comprehensive efforts from both communities.

It can be resolved by addressing the sense of insecurity and helplessness among the Meiteis and genuine concerns of the Kuki community simultaneously" .

RSS further urged the Government including local administration, police, military and central agencies to take every possible step to immediately stop this painful violence, and ensure the seamless supply of relief materials among the displaced along with necessary actions to maintain peace & harmony.

Extending solidarity to the people affected by the present unrest, RSS Manipur Prant and Seva Bharti Manipur have appealed to all the people of Manipur to set aside differences and come together to restore peace & normalcy in the State.

RSS Manipur Prant and Seva Bharti Manipur have continued to help the people affected by the present unrest and have so far provided relief materials to 41 shelter camps opened at various places, said a release issued by RSS Manipur Prant.

Calling for an end to the violence in Manipur, Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) has appealed to the State Government to make necessary arrangements to help the students who have been displaced by the present unrest and are taking shelter at various relief camps.

In a release, SUK informed that prevailing situation in the State and imposition of ban on internet services have caused a lot of difficulties to the students especially those who have passed the HSLC examination conducted by BOSEM and are currently seeking admission to Class XI.

SUK appealed to the State Government and Private School Authorities to consider the present situation and provide special concessions/ benefits to the displaced students who have gone through a lot in the last couple of months.

SUK also asserted that the union has begun preparations to carry out various activities including free coaching to help the students.

Moreover, Celin Digital, Keishamthong Longjam Leirak, has expressed its disappointment over the failure of the Central and State Government to put an end to the violence in Manipur even after 45 days.

Questioning the silence of the Prime Minister of India on the present issue of Manipur, Celin Digital appealed to the Central and State Government to hear the cries of the public and take immediate action to restore peace & normalcy in the State.
