PM Modi unveils projects worth Rs 55,600 crore
State's share of projects worth Rs 3500 cr inaugurated, foundation stones laid

Prime Minister Narendra Modi under Vikshit Bharat Vikshit North East unveiled projects worth Rs 55,600 crore for six North East States including Manipur in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh today.
For Manipur various projects worth Rs 3500 crore (approx.) were virtually inaugurated and foundation stones laid.
The Prime Minister inaugurated, dedicated to the Nation and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth about Rs 55,600 crores in Manipur, Meghalaya, Naga-land, Sikkim, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.
He also dedicated Sela Tunnel to the Nation and launched the UNNATI scheme worth about Rs 10,000 crore.

The development projects encompass sectors like rail, road, health, housing, education, border infrastructure, IT, power, oil and gas, among others.
Addressing a formal function at the City Convention Centre, Imphal in this regard today, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that India especially the North East States has witnessed a big change since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country.
N Biren Singh highlighted the projects virtually inaugurated and foundation stones laid by the Prime Minister.
He said for Manipur, projects amounting to Rs 3500 crore (approx) include 36 projects for a total amount of Rs 1748 crore (approx) of which foundation stones have been laid and 45 other projects with a total amount of Rs 1703 crore (approx) have been announced.
Highlighting the foundation stone laying of a Unity Mall at a project cost of Rs 149 crore (approx), the Chief Minister said that the Unity Mall will have separate stalls for all recognised communities in the State.
Further stating that it is an important project which was proposed by the State Government, the Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving it.
N Biren Singh also thank-ed the Prime Minister for taking up an initiative to develop infrastructure of Maternity and Child Hospital.
He said the projects also include infrastructure development of Manipur Techni- cal University at a project cost of Rs 54 crore which will be beneficial to the youth.
The Chief Minister also highlighted infrastructure development of the Processing Zone of IT SEZ.
He said that the Prime Minister had suggested laying special focus on sports to divert the youth from drugs which led to ideas like One Village, One Ground (Khungang Ama Sanabung Ama) .
He added that foundation stones for football grounds with natural grass have been laid in seven locations. Other projects for which foundation stones were laid include school infrastructure development, two road projects under NESIDS, two National Highway projects (Imphal-Jiribam, Ukhrul-Taloi-Tadubi) and four bridges under Setu Bandhan, he added.
Projects which were inaugurated include two roads under CRIF, water supply schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission, Craft Handloom Village at Moirang, four National Highway Projects (Imphal-Moreh; Tamenglong-Khongsang; Maram-Peren; Churachandpur-Tuivai), he added.
Highlighting the plight of Sangais, N Biren Singh observed the need to preserve and protect nature and environment.
He also stressed on the rejuvenation work of Lam-phelpat and said that a lot of environmental changes, as testified by the arrival of migratory birds, have been witnessed in the area.
He expressed the need to develop and preserve more water bodies in the State.
N Biren Singh said that after the coming to power of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many chronic issues which were witnessed in North East especially in Manipur have been solved and a sense of security was provided to the people.
He recalled the implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in the State by the Narendra Modi Government and the Centre's decision to scrap the Free Movement Regime, and fence Indo-Myanmar border areas.
The function at the City Convention Centre was attended by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr RK Ranjan Singh and other dignitaries.
