KIM sees red, demands evidence from Uikey

Imphal, July 14 2023:
Reacting sharply to Governor Unusuiya Uikey's revelation that external forces including from Myanmar are involved in the ongoing violence in Manipur, the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has demanded the Governor to bring out evidence about the presence of external forces.
A statement issued by KIM information and publicity secretary Janghaolun Haokip remarked that the Governor's statement was ambiguous in that she didn't clearly mention the 'forces from Myanmar' who are involved in the present violence.
|
Perhaps she was referring to the secessionist Valley Based Meitei insurgents who crossed the Indian border from Myanmar and got caught by security forces along with arms and ammunition, KIM conjectured.
The arrest of 12 KYKL cadres with arms and ammunition for instance is strong evidence to the presence of Meitei militant groups in Manipur, it said.
However, her damning statement that people from Myanmar are coming and creating disturbances in Manipur was very regrettable.
The fact that no people from Myanmar came to create disturbances here is a truism but only a perceived analogy or manufactured narratives of extremist Meiteis in order to mobilise anti-Kuki sentiments, it claimed.
The Governor exposed her naivety and total lack of understanding of the stark reality about the alleged deprivation and subjugation of the Kukis in Manipur.
It is quite doubtful that the Governor uttered such comments objectively without any pressure or influences, KIM said.
Furthermore, it is doubtful as to why the Governor has not recommended President's Rule in the State even after 7 BJP Kuki MLAs, out of 32 BJP MLAs in the State, have clearly stated that they have no confidence under the administration of N Biren Singh, KIM continued.
"Any struggle to assert our rights over land and others including Constitutional rights cannot be construed as influenced by 'outsiders'", it asserted.
Ms Uikey should exercise her wisdom not to be one among the votaries of people who defiled the sanctum sanctorum of the Constitution and the Constitutional posts.
Instead of applying a clear conscience, the Governor has succumbed to pressures.
Ms Uikey is totally misled by elements who scurry to cover up their nefarious deeds in igniting and fanning the present communal flames, it alleged.
She has forgotten the alleged inhumane treatment meted out to Kukis by the State-backed majoritarian Meiteis.
Even one BJP MLA from the Kuki community is battling for his life after being attacked by a Meitei mob.
Even after knowing the facts from the ground, the Governor refuses to recommend President 's Rule under the provision of the Constitution.
Rather, she chooses to be dictated.
Her over-obedience and subservience is obviously going to cause more troubles, it said.
KIM further wondered as to how the Governor would carry the message of peace and restoration of normalcy outside Imphal with such pre-set views on the present crisis.
