Imphal, July 14 2023:
Congress MLA K Ranjit has asserted that the BJP Government not convening a special session of the Assembly though there is no end of violence at sight defies Constitutional norms .
The Congress leader made the remark while interacting with the people residing near Sugnu Bazar today.
Saying that the situation in Manipur cannot be counted as 'improving' as there is no stoppage of gun attacks especially in the periphery, K Ranjit maintained that the violence should be discussed by all legislators at the State Assembly to work out a solution.
Further stating that the Congress has been urging the Government to call the special session as demanded by people since the initial stage of the conflict, the Congress MLA said that they however are not in the position to take a majority decision as they have only five 5 MLAs other than pressuring the Government.
All the Congress MLAs are ready to resign if it would bring peace in Manipur, he added.
Continuing that the delegates of 10 political parties came across some Kuki intellectuals trying to mislead the people including Union Ministers and intellectual circle by publishing a book "The Inevitable Split", K Ranjit said that they soon consulted with the Manipuri intellectuals at Delhi University and published a book "Kuki Lies : Exposing of Propaganda" in response.
