Imphal, July 14 2023:
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur has expressed serious concern over the sorry state of Manipur Police commandos currently posted at Moreh.
Apart from facing shortage of ration, the commando personnel have been denied access to healthcare facilities.
They are not allowed to venture out of their station even to buy medicines, said a press release issued by FOCS.
After driving out all the Meitei people from Moreh by burning down their houses to ashes, the narco-terrorists are now scheming to drive out police commandos from the border town.
There have been incidents of narco-terrorists attacking police commandos at Moreh.
It is strange that the police commandos stationed at Moreh to maintain law and order are not authorised to open fire in self-defence even when they are attacked by narco-terrorists and their supporters, FOCS decried.
The Home Department's treatment of the commandos personnel posted at Moreh is akin to pushing them to a death trap.
Even today, a large number of Kuki people including illegal immigrants from Myanmar besieged Moreh police station.
This is a very serious matter and the State Government should not commit the blunder of taking the matter lightly, it said.
The State Government must look after all the requirements of the police commandos posted at Moreh and enable them to perform their duties, FOCS continued.
In the name of physical fitness test, the strength of Manipur police commandos was reduced drastically in April this year.
Shortly after, Kuki narco-terrorists launched a war against Meitei people on May 3 .
It appeared that the strength of Manipur Police commandos was slashed under a deep-rooted conspiracy.
Subsequently, the strength of police commandos posted at Moreh which is known to be a stronghold of illegal Kuki immigrants was also reduced considerably, it remarked.
All the illegal Kuki immigrants who are working to drive out police commandos from Moreh should be thrown out of Manipur, it added.
