Thoubal, July 14 2023:
Expressing discontentment over alleged indifferent attitude of the Union government to Manipur and its people, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has urged the centre to do the needful to restore peace at the earliest in the state.
A team of Congress workers led by IYC president Srinivas BV visited the relief camp, at Lamding Higher Secondary School and provided essential items to the inmates on Friday.
Speaking to media persons on the side-lines, Srinivas expressed resentment that the union government is maintaining silence even after 70 days of the crisis in Manipur.
Stating that pain and agony being experienced by the violence affected people were narrated to the IYC team during the visit, he called upon the government both at the centre and in the state to convene a meeting and chalk out strategies to restore peace in Manipur for which the Congress would extend all possible help.
The Youth Congress is in the state as advised by Rahul Gandhi to help the displaced people taking shelter in relief camps, he added.
Srinivas was accompanied by IYC general secre tary Purnacnandra, social media chairman Manu Jain and Manipur in-charge Sarifa Rahaman during the visit.
