Help extended to village volunteers, home

Imphal, July 14 2023:
A team of 10 residents of Nagamapal Pao-nam Leirak donated food items for the village volunteers, who are guarding the Kongba Mara Laiphamlen, a sacred religious site of the Meetei comrhunity, where Kuki militants had burnt the caretaker's quarters, Walhousang (community kitchen) and community hall recently and set up several bunkers in the nearby hillocks.
Interacting with the media about the assistance they provided, one�Angom Ningol Leisilembi said that Kongba Mara Laiphamlen is one of the sacred sites of the Meetei community, which has history of several thousand years.
While decrying damage caused to some structures of the sacred site, she advised the government to flush out the Kuki militants from the area and secure the location so that Meeteis could not only worship as usual but also avert occurrence of unwanted incidents in the area.
On the other-hand, Khongman Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi Lup donated food items for village volunteers of Senjam Chirang and Kanto Sabal while Bamon Kampu Awang Leikai Meira Paibi Lup and local club Eastern Youth Development Organisation donated Rs 10,000 cash to village volunteers of Chairel Mangjil Bazar.
Narankon -jin Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi Lup also provided food items to village volunteers of Khoijumantabi in Bishnupur district.
Mention may be made that amid the state remaining in the grip of tension due to threat of attack on peripheral areas, village volunteers have been keeping vigil with village level organisations and individuals extending assistance to the volunteers.
Meanwhile, women writers from different parts of the state donated food items to the old age home located at Langol.
The writers' team visited the old age home on Tuesday and handed over the aid materials to chairman of the home, Oinam Mangi.
