Thoubal, July 14 2023:
Questioning if the Central Government has forgotten that Manipur is also a part of India, Indian Youth Congress president Srinivas BV has appealed for immediate steps to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
A team of Congress workers led by Srinivas BV visited the Lamding Higher Secondary School relief camp under Thoubal district and interacted with the inmates on top of distributing essential aid materials.
Speaking to media persons from the sideline of the relief initiative, Srinivas stated that he was deeply saddened upon hearing the accounts narrated by the inmates of the relief camp, which include stories of being separated from their families.
Stating that 300/400 displaced people have been crammed in this small relief camp, he shared that these inmates do not want to survive on the goodwill of others.
Adding that they have expressed desire to return home, regardless of whether they get their two square meals or not, Srinivas BV urged the Government to convene a meeting immediately to resolve the conflict and resettle the displaced people back in their hometowns.
Srinivas BV also assured that the Congress Party will also extend all possible help to the inmates.
It may be noted that IYC general secretary Purnachandra, Social Media chairman Manu Jain and IYC in-charge Manipur Sarifa Rahaman were also part of the Congress relief team.
