Imphal, July 14 2023:
Short of supplies due to protests by Kukis demanding complete withdrawal of the State forces from Moreh, Manipur police commandos and IRB personnel posted at the border town have voiced discontent with the State Government for not showing concern about their safety.
It is reported that about 120 State security personnel deployed at Moreh are facing acute shortage of supplies including drinking water as a large number of Kuki protesters accompanied by militants have launched widespread protests against deployment of State security forces at the border town.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, some State commandos and IRB personnel posted at Moreh said that the State Government has turned a blind eye to the problems they are experiencing.
Expressing desire for the Manipur Govt to understand the gravity of the issue at the border town and work accordingly, they claimed that the Govt however seems unconcerned about their safety and supplies.
"We will face any group who threatens the unity and integrity of Manipur even if it would cost our lives," the commandos and IRB personnel at Moreh said and appealed to the Government to make sure they get their supplies and medicines regularly.
Further stating that the places where State commandos and IRB personnel stationed are surrounded by Kuki villages, they asked whether the Government takes them all as sacrificial lambs.
The commandos and IRB personnel who have been posted at Moreh police station and IB complex since the last three months are unable to buy even medicines for the sick personnel, they conveyed and added that two of their personnel were almost abducted by Kuki militants recently while heading out to a nearby pharmacy.
They further said that suspension of Imphal-Moreh helicopter services has compounded their woes.
