Imphal, July 14 2023:
While contending that Manipur police commandos stationed at Moreh town are vulnerable to attacks by armed militants as they are not given the order to retaliate even in self-defence, Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) has charged the state government of exposing the state force to serious threat in the border town.
In a releasp, FOCS pointed out Moreh town is one of the worst affected towns following the ethnic violence as was evident from the entire Meitei community targeted by armed Kuki narco-terrorists.
Sympathising with condition of the commando personnel who are facing acute shortage of ration stock, medicines and water.
FOCS also noted that they are not in a position to move out of the station to even buy essential commodities and medicines after coming under attack by armed Kuki militants.
Likening condition of the police commandos in Moreh to leaving them to die in the absence of orders to defend themselves when attacked, FOCS further pointed out that the Moreh police station had faced attacks by armed Kuki militants and it is time that authorities concerned extend all possible material and logistics support to the comman-_dos to discharge their duties of saving Manipur.
The strength of police commandos which has been reduced as per an order by the home department in March needs to augment, it added.
