MPSC seal big win in MNCA Elite Tournament opener

Potsangbam Bonem Singh's all-round performance guided MPSC (Manipur Central Jail) to a comprehensive 8-wicket win over RULE (Malom) in the opening match of the 7th MNCA W Prahlada & W Ramananda Elite Tournament at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
MPSC skittled out RULE for 137 in 38.3 overs with the help of a disciplined bowling display that saw Potshangbam Bonem and Sarangthem Shangker scalp three wickets, backed up by two scalps from Maibam Bijoykumar and one apiece from Oinam Rojit and Chingangbam Lokeshwor.
For RULE, Rajkumar Hera-chandra got an unbeaten 37, Chabungbam Ishworjit made 23, and Sanjenbam Ananda and Sanjenbam Somokanta contributed 19 each in their innings.
Responding to RULE'S 137 total, MPSC overcame early jitters (after opener Gelson Thoudam got dismissed for 1 off 3 balls) to knock off the target in 27.5 overs.
Potshangbam Bonem was the stand-out batter in their run chase with an unbeaten 74 as Sagolsem Sunil impressed with 44 and Sarangthem Shangker earned 11 (not out) .
Gelson was caught off Thokchom Kishan's bowling while Sunil was dismissed by Thangjam Cheery Singh.
Potshangbam Bonem deservedly claimed the man of the match title for his all-round performance.
