P Bonem produced an allround performance to guide MPSC to an 8-wicket win over RULE-Malom as 7th edition of MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament kicked off today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
RULE won the toss but had to regret their decision to bat first as they were bowled out for a meagre total of 137 runs in 38.3 overs as spin duo of S Shangker- P Bonem wreaked havoc across their line up.
MPSC then rode on Potsangbam Bonem's unbeaten half century to wrap up the chase within 27.5 overs with 8 wickets left to spare.

In RULE's innings, left arm medium pacer, Maibam Bijoykumar found the breakthrough by bowling out Chabungbam Ishorjit for 23 runs in the 8th minute.
Sarangthem Shangker then trapped Sanjenbam Somokanta lbw for 19 runs to reduce RULE struggling at 59 for 2 after 19.4 overs.
Oinam Rojit then bowled out Sanjenbam Ananda (13) for the third wicket in the 23rd over as the scoreboard read 69 before Sarangthem Shangker bowled out Nongthombam Sarojkumar (2) and Thokchom Kishan (8) to complete his three wicket haul (3/23 in 8 overs) and left RULE languishing at 85 for 5 in 25.1 overs.
Manikhomba Meitei Sanjenbam then holed out to Ngangom Sudesh off Ch Lokeshwor delivery for the 6th wicket before Maibam Bijoykumar had his second by bowling out Rojit Singh Angomcha for the 7th wicket as the scoreboard read 111.Potsangbam Bonem then took charge of the bowling attack by removing Thangjam Cherry and Laishram Bhuson cheaply on lbws before wrapping up the innings by bowling out N Prameshore and returned with the best bowling figures of 3/12 in 4.3 overs.
Herachandra who was unbeaten on 37 was the highest run getter for RULE today.
Needing just 138 runs for the win, MPSC suffered an early jolt as Gelson got caught behind the wicket by RULE wicketkeeper Chabungbam Ishworjit off Thokchom Kishan's fourth delivery of the innings' opening over.
Sagolshem Sunil and Potsangbam Bonem however forged a commendable 94-run second wicket partnership off 119 deliveries to resurrect the innings.
After Sunil (40) was removed by Th Cherry, settled Potsangbam Bonem joined forces with Sarangthem Shangker (11 not out off 23 balls) smashed 74 runs off 87 deliveries to steer MPSC to winning 141.Bonem's knock included 10 fours and 1 six as Shangker found the fence twice (2x4) .
Bonem was eventually adjudged man of the match.
Tomorrow, TRAU-Kwakeithel will play Al-Ameen- Lilong in the second match of the 12-team tournament.
