Poppy destruction operation continues

Imphal, February 09 2023:
In continuation of the ongoing poppy destruction operation, a joint team of Machi police station led by its officer in-charge S Ibotombi, NAB and forest officials destroyed poppy plants found growing in around 40 acres of land in T Molphei village area on Wednesday.
SDO Tengnoupal Ksh Roshanjit was also part of the team.
Meanwhile, Chassad Battalion of 1G AR (South) reportedly provided prophylactic assistance for destruction of poppy cultivation in general area Maokot village under Sahamphung sub-division on February 7 and 8 .
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that a joint team of Kamjong district police, Manipur Rifles and Assam Rifles (Chassad Battalion) under the supervision of additional SP Kamjong destroyed poppy cultivation over an area of around 95 acres in Maokot and Lanchah village areas under the theme 'War on Drugs' .
During the destruction drive two drones were extensively used.
The team also destroyed 2 huts in the poppy fields, added the PRO.
