Litterateurs exhorted to save society from degradation

Observing that the society is in dire straits as it is unable to protect the traditions which are meant for sustenance at any cost, rebel leader-turned social worker Rk Sanayaima has called upon the litterateurs to strive for promotion of traditions so as to save the society from degradation.
Speaking at the first foundation day celebration of Apunba Khorirolgee Malemgee Lup held at JN Manipur Dance Academy auditorium on Thursday as the chief guest, Sanayaima pointed out that as richness of any culture is reflected in the daily activities of the people, litterateurs have a vital role in not only penning their visions but also to promote and preserve the cultures and traditions of the society.
On account of the daily activities the main sources of inspiration and for writing, literature and society have inseparable relations, he said and reiterated appeal to the litterateurs to contribute their mite in enhancing profile of the rich culture and traditions of Manipur.
While regretting that the past practice of discipline and respect towards one another is dissipating with passage of time, Sanayaima said it is high time to remember the cultural legacy inherited from our ancestors.
The foundation day celebration presided over by Apunba Khorirolgee Malemgee Lup president W Amuchou Meitei was also attended by advocate Khaidem Londonbala, author Rajendra Okram, Cultural Worker & Activities Forum chairman Budha Chingtham, AMMIK president Khaidem Thoiba, social workers Robin Blackie and Sovid Elangbam as guests of honour.
Palem Panthou Cultural Produc tion's drama 'Apayao' written and directed by Dr Salam Shantibala was staged on the occasion and journalists given memento and stole.
