Skilling of denizens stressed as Kakching holds Skill Mela

Kakching, February 09 2023:
District Skill Committee, Kakching on Thursday organised a District Skill Mela, 2023 at JNURM Hall, Kakching Sumak Leikai under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
The programme was attended by Manipur Society for Skill Development mission director LN Kashung, Kakching deputy commissioner Somorjit Salam, State Skill Mission chief operating officer (skills) Kh Bobby Singh, SRA/NRL Anuradha Oinam and Manipur Society for Skill Development joint director Amarjit Rajkumar as presidium members.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, LN Kashung pointed out that apart from importance of improving the rate of literacy to address the problem of unemployment in Manipur, it is equally crucial to bring awareness on skill development.
"Even educated persons should keep themselves trained and fit.
One must be equipped with skills that are required to meet the demands of our rapidly growing economy.
We should be very clear to what is skill and for what it is", the mission director said.
In his presidential speech, Kakching DC Somorjit Salam said that in Manipur there are many educated but unemployed persons and the issue wouldn't end anytime soon unless the educated ones too strive to acquire unique skill in different vocations.
If unemployment figure keeps rising lots of crisis will follow, he remarked and emphasised that to generate employment skill development along with hard work culture is a must in our society.
Kakching ADM Adahrii Maheo in his welcome and keynote address pointed out that the development of skills can contribute to structural transformation and economic growth by enhancing employability and labour productivity.
Skill development has been considered as one of the critical aspects for job creation in our country.
Everybody must try to get benefit and opportunity of organising such Skill Mela in the district.
Basically, the District Skill Mela was organised for generating awareness and selection/enrolment of interested persons for skill development training in different sectors under the various skill development schemes of central and state governments.
The programme was designed to associate with different line departments of the district, training providers, employers across the state, banks, etc., for overall sensitisation of various aspects of skill development, reputed training providers across the state have participated in the event.
Later, the dignitaries inspected the stalls.
As part of the Mela, a talk show was moderated by SYNAPX managing director Anil Haorokcham and participated by Kakching LDM A Athias, Mukta Shoes proprietor and Padmashri awardee Moirangthem Muktamani, Meira Foods proprietor Hanjabam Subhra Devi, Elle's group CEO/co-founder Pradeep Meitram and Me dilane founder/managing director Dr Pibarel Meetei.
During the Skill Mela, altogether 22 stalls were opened with DIC, Fishery, Horticulture and Agriculture representing the government departments; KVK, RSETI, ITI, CIPET, NIELIT as training institutes; and JCRE Skills Solution, Development for Women's Programme, OZONE Pharmaceuticals, SYNAPX, State Institute for Hotel Management, St Stone Medical Device, Job Thiminnasi, Smart Security Service, Romi Bag Industry, Green Cane Industries as training provider/employer.
Kakching Progressive Kris-e FPO as Farmer Producers Organisation and Meira Foods and Mukta Shoes as Entrepreneur were the other participants of the fair.
