FC Imphal City to open cricket, hockey academies

Football Club (FC), Imphal City has informed that it will open Imphal City Cricket Academy and Imphal City Hockey Academy to encourage players.
According to a release, FC, Imphal City will participate in the AMFA Cup-2023 and youth under-13, 17 & 19 leagues organised by All India Football Federation.
The release also congratulated FC Imphal City Academy former under-13 player Tekcham Abhishek, who is playing at RoundGlass Punjab FC which won the Hero I-league title and have been promoted to the Indian Super League.
Inspired by the various achievements since inception seven years back, including 22 of its footballers either selected to play in national colours or playing in the I-league and Indian Super League, the decision to establish Imphal City Cricket Academy was taken to encourage cricket players in the state, said the release, adding that cricket players would be trained by BCCI certified coach.
FC Imphal also congratulated Manipur cricket team for qualifying for the Ranji Trophy elite group, Rk Rex for representing the Indian under-19 team and selection of Waikhom Ganga Devi for the Indian women cricket team.
Pointing out that Manipuri players have been regularly figuring in the Indian national hockey team and even produced the first Olympian of the state in Pangambam Nilakomol Singh, the release said that Imphal City Hockey Academy will be launched to produce more players.
