8th Grassroots Football Coaching camp at Moirang concludes

The 8th edition of Grassroots Football Coaching camp organised by AMOFA Academy under the aegis of the All Manipur Football Association and DFA Moirang concluded today at Hemam Nilamani Ngangkha Lampak Sports Complex, Moirang today.
The closing ceremony of the coaching programme was attended by Minister for Works and YAS, Govindas Konthoujam; MLA Moirang AC, Th Shanti Singh; SDPO Moirang, M Noren Singh; OC Moirang, Kh Rajen Khanganba; Dr Ksh Umananda Singh and international footballer and brand ambassador of AMOFA Academy Shilky Hemam as distinguished guests.
Speaking at the occasion, Govindas Konthoujam said that the Chief Minister had clearly highlighted his intentions to further promote football, when Manipur hosted Durand Cup last year and recently in the B-20 conference hosted in Imphal.

If the Central Government supports his intent to promote football in Manipur, the State can produce players who can lead India to World Cup finals qualification, he said while lauding Manipur players who have inherent athletic qualities.
He also praised the academy and guardians of the players attending the camp for their effort and enthusiasm to keep the camp going for 20 days by bearing all the expenses on their own.
The State Government is also working with India's tennis star Leander Paes to develop a football academy and efforts will be made to add sports medicine and other facilities in the coming days, he said.
Through the help of G-20 delegates, efforts to tie up Argentina Football Association and All Manipur Football Association for technology transfer and coaching facilities are in the pipeline, he noted.
He also encouraged AMOFA Academy to become an AIFF accredited academy and seek necessary assistance from the State Government to keep producing notable players.
Around 150 players between the age of 6 and 13 years participated in the camp which was conducted under AFC-C Licence holder Ph Surendro and other 15 instructors.
