Imphal, March 05 2023:
While expressing that it would be impossible for the society and the state to join the developmental race without education, chief minister N Biren remarked that if one is going to disregard his/her parents and become unpatriotic despite being highly educated, it would be better to stop studying altogether.
He made the statement during the inaugural function of UNACCO School, a fully residential co-educational school at Chanung in Imphal East district on Sunday.
Works minister Govindas Konthoujam, Public Health Engineering minister L Susindro Meitei, Manipur Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd chairman MLA Kh Ibomcha, Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar and NEDFi PVSLN CMD Murty also attended the inauguration programme.
In his address, CM Biren stressed the importance of education in the development of a society and added that education has made it possible for our state to compete with others.
Mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra of Nation First, he said that the education we acquire should be used for the betterment of our nation and added that there would be no meaning of education, if used for destruction of our society.
The CM continued that education is very comprehensive and it includes acquiring all knowledge useful for living a meaningful life, while maintaining that Manipur has achieved a new stage with quality, commitment and professionalism in working style.
He stressed that involvement of the private sector is important for development of the state and the government has taken up different development works in coordination with private players.
There is no greater loss of education than someone getting educated and using the education to destroy his state/country.
Thus, PM Modi has been preaching the spirit of patriotism to the people of the country, Biren stated.
The CM further called for doing away with the education system which could influence the children to abandon their parents after becoming successful.
An educated person is the one who is not only intellectual, but maintains decorum and is patriotic, he contended.
Highlighting the various changes Manipur has undergone, Biren said that entrepreneurs have taken up the challenge of helping the state move in the right direction.
The development works taken up by the government are not for temporary basis but to last for at least 50 years, he added and urged those working in the government to keep aside self-interest and work for the betterment of the people.
He then announced that the government will soon construct a 5-star hotel within the next 2 years, while pointing out that Manipur has the highest number of foreign tourists among the north-eastern states.
While confiding that the government would be recruiting faculty from outside the state for coaching related to technical education, engineering and IT, he maintained that the government is a system made of humans and as such, there will be one or two flaws.
However, the present government has the courage to admit the wrongs committed, Biren affirmed.
He also appreciated the team of UNACCO for coming up with a residential school of international standard.
He stated that Manipur has changed a lot in the field of development and gave the credit to the people of the state for their support.
The chief minister further announced that the state government would try to come up with the All Manipur Entrepreneurs Award from next year, while informing that Rs 100 crore has been allocated for the Start-Up scheme.
He then said that Manipur is a mini-India with many diverse communities and hence, it is evitable to have difference of opinions.
Nonetheless, the government is trying its level best for all the communities, he stated.
In his presidential speech, UNACCO chairman N Irabanta said that the government has been extending assistance to all development projects being taken up at the foothills.
He then praised PM Modi and CM N Biren for their leadership qualities, while requesting the government to organise a conclave or an award distribution to encourage emerging entrepreneurs.
Administrators, entrepreneurs, officials of UNACCO School and students also attended the programme among others.
