CAU conducts medical camp at adopted village Sangaithel

A one-day medical camp was organized by the College of Food Technology, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Lamphelpat under the sponsorship of the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur at Sangaithel Makha Leikai Community Hall in Imphal West district yesterday.
The health camp was organized to sensitize the importance of day-to- day regular health check-up as well as maintenance of good health such as hypersensitivity (blood pressure) status, diabetic status and anaemic status (blood haemoglobin levels) of the common villagers of the locality.
About 70 people including aged male, female, pregnant women and children received the benefits of the camp.
Different medicines such as iron folic tablets, paracetamol, diabetes drugs and hypertension control drugs were distributed to the local people after thorough diagnosis by a medical team composed of College Medical Officer Dr Bhavana Soso and her team of nurses.

The Medical officer also reported that about 45 percent of the people who turned up at the medical camp had low blood pressure, more than 30 percent were hypertension cases and people beyond 60 years of age have high blood sugar level which is a precursor to diabetic ailments as observed from the random checks.
More than 30 percent of the villagers examined were also underweight as reported by the Medical Officer.
Professor Ng Iboyaima Singh, Dean of College of Food Technology, CAU; Dr Ng Joykumar Singh, Associate Professor, faculties and staff of the college were present at the camp.
It may also be mentioned that the College has been extending various aid to Sangaithel as the adopted village of the college in terms of distribution of animal feeds, agricultural seeds for livelihood development of the people of the region in the last year 2021-22 .
Several farmers have benefited from the input distribution drive.
