Imphal, March 05 2023:
PDA Chairman L Rameshwor has stated that Leishang Hiden would be developed and spruced up at a cost of Rs 100 crore and Imphal Evening would be re-opened there on the banks of the canal and its adjoining areas.
The PDA Chairman who is also the MLA of Keirao AC made a field inspection of different development works being implemented within his Assembly segment yesterday.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the inspection tour, Rameshwor said that he had consulted with the Chief Minister on the Leishang Hiden project.
An amusement park is being constructed at Khannarok at a cost of Rs 5 crore and efforts are on to construct a market at Kyamgei Lilong Thongkhong at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore, he said.
He said that maximum efforts are being invested to complete the construction work of the State's only homeopathic college at Keirao Khunou within the current year.
Rameshwor claimed that he has been working hard to bring noticeable changes in Keirao AC in the fields of health, sports, education and road infrastructure.
Celebration or taking part in the festivals of other communities has been taking a heavy toll on the Meitei community's economy, he said.
At the same time, Meiteis are becoming more and more indolent.
As many of the families are losing their sources of livelihood, they are even afraid of giving birth to babies for fear that they may not be able to groom their children properly, Rameshwor said.
Noting that the Meitei community has been celebrating too many festivals, the PDA Chairman appealed to all the people, particularly the people of Keirao AC, to minimise the tradition of collecting money during the Yaosang festival.
Noting that a substantial number of the Meitei population have adopted Christianity, the MLA said that the Meitei community is even more endangered than the Sangai.
He asserted that the War on Drugs would never be successful until and unless all the 60 MLAs are sincere enough.
If the 60 MLAs are sincere, all the poppy plantations can be completely destroyed within 10 to 15 days, Rameshwor said.
