Torch relay held across many districts ahead of 2nd Manipur Olympic Games

Imphal, August 25 2022: Torch relays were organised in parts of the State ahead of the 2nd Manipur Olympic Games which is set to commence tomorrow.

District Olympic associations including Bishnupur District Olympic Association (BDSA), Ukhrul District Olympic Association, Sadar Hills District Sports Association, Senapati District Olympic Association held relay in their respective district Headquarters.

Bishnupur DC L Bikram in the presence of officials of BDSA flagged off the relay from Loukoipat.

The relay which culminated at Mini Secretariat complex was participated by more than 150 sports persons who represented the district at the State Games.

A Similar event held in Ukhrul was led by veteran sportsperson Kapsingshang Phinao.

The relay attended by 186 athletes was flagged from Wino Bazar before culminating at Ukhrul DC Complex.

Meanwhile the torch rally in Kangpokpi was flagged off by District Coordinator Satkholen Khongsai from Brig M Thomas Ground.

Players and officials who will represent the district in the 2nd Manipur State Olympic Games took part in the rally.

Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur also organised a similar relay event and was flagged off by PP Ronald, Senior Administrative Officer, PHED from Old DC, Senapati.

Jiribam Olympic Association meanwhile flagged off its 139-member district contingent for the 2nd Manipur Olympic Games.

Jiribam is set to participate in 11 different events in the Games.

Our Tengnoupal district correspondent also reported that its football team have been flagged off for the Games beginning tomorrow.
