YPHU, CYCLONE squeeze into Veteran T-20 Cricket semis

CYCLONE-Thangmeiband and YPHU-Lalambung posted crucial Group A victories to enter semi-finals of the ongoing 10th Manipur Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament.
CYCLONE defeated CHAMP by 57 runs in a must win game for them today to finish Group A runners up.
Electing to bat first, CYCLONE posted a total of 160 runs for 6 wickets courtesy a half century knock from S Robindro (64 off 43 balls) and significant contributions from H Heramani (20), Md Iqbal (26) and Ph Rohindro (17).CYCLONE then bowled out CHAMP who were a man short, for 103 runs in 19.5 overs courtesy notable bowling efforts from Md Iqbal (3/6), Lamnganba (2/17) and S Tiken (2/36) .
In CYCLONE'S innings, W Sajan and Sanjoy shared two wickets each as U Robinson claimed a wicket.
In reply, Sanjoy added the highest 35 followed by U Robinson (14), Th Suijit (10) and Prabin (10) .
Md Iqbal of CYCLONE who produced an allround performance was adjudged man of the match.
In the last Group A match staged later, YPHU crushed UCC-Uripok by 142 runs to consolidate pole position.
YPHU racked up 199 runs for 8 wickets after being put in to bat first and sent UCC crashing out for a total of 57 runs within 14.4 overs.
Ng Kenny blazed off 60-ball 79 in YPHU's innings as his opening partner Kh Hemanta starred with a 18-ball 42.Boicha (23), Th Pyarlal (18), Alai Ryder (13) and Ponil also registered double digit runs for YPHU as Jacky of UCC scalped twice while four other claimed a wicket each.
M Hakim (14), Jacky (12) and Joykumar (10) were significant run getters for UCC who were two men short, in the chase.
The innings was cut short with Th Pyarlal enjoying a three wicket haul and K Gyanranjan and Bedamohon sharing two wickets each.
Ng Kenny who struck the highest 79 runs deservingly claimed the man of the match accolade.
The first semi-final match is slated for February 15 .
