Training programme on "Scientific poultry farming" conducted

Kakching, February 12 2023:
Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal today organised a 1-day training programme on "Scientific poultry farming" at Kakching Paji Leikai Leisngabam Pareng.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management (NIBSM) Chhattisgarh, Kakching Indigenous Farmers' Co-operative Society (KIFCO) and SUS Kakching.
As part of the event, equipment for bee-keeping and poultry chicks were handed over to 35 farmers of the district.
Earlier, an inspection was carried out to check the growth stage of the mustard seeds provided to the farmers of Kakching district through KIFCP by the Directorate of Extension Education, CAU Imphal.
Speaking to media persons after the inspection.
Professor Dr Kh Ibohal, Head, Department of Entomology, Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, stated that to assist the farmers of Kakching district who are very hard working, mustard seeds were provided through KIFCO to grow in their fields during the winter season and help generate more income.
Elaborating on the benefits of installing bee-hives in the mustard fields, he said, "Placing of bee-hives in the mustard fields will increase the yield 9 percent.
Mustard plants can also be harvested 15 days ahead".
KIFCO chairman, Yengkhom Nilachandra stated that KIFCO will continue to support and work for the welfare of the farmers in the future.
