2nd Annual conference of BVP, Manipur Prant conducted

Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur Prant on Sunday organised its second annual conference at Rotary Bhavan, Mantripukhri in Imphal West district.
Speaking at the event, BVP national president Gajendra Singh Sandhu emphasised on the importance of understanding the concept of the unity of the country and also stressed on the practice of the concept of unity in diversity in different parts of India irrespective of state, caste, creed, language or religion.
Delivering his speech, BVP Manipur Prant general secretary, B Krishnakumar Sharma said that the organisation has been making efforts to make India a self-reliant and vibrant nation.
Highlighting its works during 2022-23, Krishnakumar said that it has been organising "Free Anaemia Manipur" programme every month to provide iron tablet, iron utensil and vitamin supplements to women suffering from Anaemia.
It has also been providing sanitary napkins, conducting embroidery training, computer training, etc., to empower girls and women of Manipur, Krishnakumar said, adding that the organisation also took great roles during natural disasters by donating to the people in need, conduct health check-up, yoga camp, blood donation, tree plantation drive, etc.
It may be mentioned that Bharat Vikas Parishad is a voluntary organisation where citizens from all walks of life join to work for the development and growth of the country in all fields of human endeavour through promoting a sense of patriotism, national unity and integrity with the stated objective to make India physically, economically and morally strong.
In Manipur, BVP was established in the year 1999.They have nine Shakha, namely Imphal, Bazar Mahila, Lingthoingambi Mahila, Bishnupur, Moirang, Thanga, Kangpokpi, Thoubal and Wabagai, with 266 active members.
Work/activities of BVP can be broadly categorised into service (Sewa) and educational.
Serving the Divyang by providing them artificial limbs and wheelchairs, organising health check-up and yoga camps, blood donation, protecting environment by planting trees, and whenever there is a national calamity, provide necessary help and undertake relief measures are some of the important services.
'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' and 'Nasha Mukti' are also emphasised during social campaigns.
For uplift of the education sector, BVP organises Bharat Ko Jano quiz competition and patriotic song competition and in schools.
As a part of Sunday's programme, wheel-chair was presented to Soibam (O) Ibe-ni Devi (66), Lilong Arapti Awang Leikai which was donated by Dr N Muhindro Singh and Ch Amita Devi of Luwangsangbam.
Besides BVP president Gajendra Singh Sandhu, the conference was also attended by BVP Manipur Prant president Dr H Priyoshakhi Devi, who is also the director of RIMS, Dhanamanjuri University vice chancellor professor N Rajmuhon Singh and BVP national organising secretary Suresh Jain among others.
