Friendly volleyball, football matches played

Loktak Battalion of IGAR (South) organised friendly volleyball match and distributed refreshment among the youth of Setupur village in Bishnupur district on Wednesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the matches were played in the presence of youth president of Setupur village and Kumbi coy commander.
The event was undertaken for the peaceful coexistence of security forces and local population as well as to improve the public outreach.
Songdoi Company Operating Base of Khuga Battalion also organised a friendly volleyball match between local youth and Assam Rifles at Songdoi village in Churachandpur district on Thursday to motivate youth to excel and promote sports culture in border villages.
During the interaction, the youth were briefed about sports culture in India including its historical linkage and the opportunities available in today's environment in various sports genres.
They were also motivated to follow their dream sports and bring accolades for the country.
On the other hand, Phundrei Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a friendly football match with local youth of Waikhong village in Kakching district on Wednesday.
The match was organised under Fit India Movement drive to encourage youth towards sports and fitness.
More than 25 youths gathered to witness the match and the opportunity was used to brief them on the importance of sports in developing fitness and aware about the value of being good sportsman to get enrolled in Assam Rifles.
They were also informed about arrays of events and development activities planned to be implemented in their areas to foster healthy relations with the local populace.
