Imphal, March 02 2023:
All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNP) has lambasted the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union government for hiking the price of domestic LPG by Rs 50 per cylinder for the second time this year after January 1.Pointing out that price was hiked immediately after conduct of the assembly elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland, AMNM secretary L Sumatibala stated that steep increase of the LPG will impact the middle class people, farmers, workers and daily wage earners who are presently facing relentless high inflation of essential commodities caused by wrongful economic policies adopted by the BJP-led government to suit a few corporates supporting it.
Further stating that the price rise will hit womenfolk the hardest, AMNP likened the government's policy to oppression of half the citizens of the nation.
"If such inconsiderate measures are not opposed by women organisations it will lead to further actions that will affect the womenfolk.
Women who are supporting various political parties should realise that this action of the Modi government is affecting women the most," it added.
