Adequate fertilizers

Claiming that there is sufficient quantity of fertilizers in stock, Agriculture Minister Th Biswajit has asserted that there would be no shortage of fertilizers in the State.
Replying to a question raised by Opposition MLA K Ranjit during question hour in the State Assembly today, Biswajit said that the State received 22,993.09 tonnes of Urea in 2020-21 against the State's quota of 30,000 tonnes.
The State's quota of Urea for 2022 was 29,000 tonnes and the State received 21,104.06 tonnes.
Against the State's Urea quota of 22,000 metric tonnes for the Kharif season of 2022-23, the department received 15,956.91 metric tonnes.
Taking into account, 2098.34 tonnes allotted through company/dealer, the department received a total of 18,055.25 tonnes of Urea.
Out of the State's quota of 10,400 metric tonnes of Urea for the Rabi season of 2022-23, the department received 8,405.24 tonnes including 5,817.90 tonnes allotted through company/dealer, Biswajit.
He said that there are at present 5,893.56 metric tonnes of Urea in stock.
It is estimated that 29,144 metric tonnes of Urea might have been used in the last Kharif season, he added.
Responding to a query raised by Congress MLA Th Lokeshwar, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Letpao Haokip said that the Horticulture Department has been providing crop seeds to farmers under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture and Cultivation of Horticulture Crops As An Alternative to Poppy Cultivation in Hill Areas scheme.
Responding to another query raised by K Ranjit, Th Biswajit who is also in charge of Power Department said that the MANIREDA has been planning to set up two solar power plants of 50 MW each.
The two solar power projects would be able to generate 60 MW to 70 MW in total.
The power generated by the two solar power plants would be purchased by the State Discom at the rate approved by JERC (Manipur & Mizoram), Biswajit added.
