Imphal, March 02 2023:
The Accident and Trauma Centre (ATC) of JNIMS, the only medical institute of the state, is providing 18 different types of essential medicines for free from 10 pm to 7pm with effect from March 1 .
JNIMS director Prof L Deben on Wednesday said that the initiative is being taken up under the supervision of Chief Minister and JNIMS Society president N Biren Singh, with the objective of developing JNIMS into a world-class medical institute and providing the best service to the people.
As pursuance of this objective, all patients brought to ATC from 10 pm to 7am are provided with 18 different medicines, as required, for free with effect from March 1 .
The main reason for this is the closure of pharmacies near and around the hospital during the mentioned timing, and some times, the absence of enough people to make the run for the required medicines.
The initiative is being taken up to address some of the inconveniences faced by patient parties, he added.
The director further informed that a register has been prepared to record the details (names, address and mobile number) of patients to collect feedback on whether the patients brought in during the stipulated timing have been provided with the medicines or not, and how the doctors and nurses on-duty at the ATC are taking care of the patients.
Afterwards, JNIMS authority will contact the patient parties via phone to collect feedback and find out if were given the medicines or not, as a form of monitoring the process, he conveyed.
Prof L Deben then stated that the government and the hospital alone cannot maintain cleanliness in the hospital premises but need the support and cooperation of the public coming to the hospital for treatment.
He urged patient parties to properly dispose of plastic bottles and other items at the dustbins, while refraining from spitting on the walls and inside the toilets of the hospital, and also to avoid damaging hospital property.
