Imphal, March 02 2023:
The total shut down of government health institutions launched by All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA) against non-fulfilment of their four demands by the state government, completed 16 days, on Wednesday.
In a release, AMHSDA general secretary Dr Lolee P Mao said that the agitation has put the people living in the hills and other remote areas where there are no alternative facilities like in the valley, in a state of hardship.
However, the government has been remaining silent de spite the association taking up various forms of democratic agitations including black badge campaign, sit-in protest, mass casual leave and relay hunger strike among others, he said while adding that AMHSDA had compromised and cut down its demands from 8 to 4 as requested by the government.
"AMSHDA cooperated with the government during the Sangai festival and also during the visit of the union home minister Amit Shah by suspending the agitation, " he reminded.
Although the government has acknowledged that the demands are legitimate and that it is in the process of fulfilling them, not a single demand of the association has been honoured till today, he lamented, while appealing to the authority concerned to redreSs the grievances of the doctors working under the state health services.
