Imphal, March 02 2023:
Six civil society organisations namely AMKIL, Kanglamei, Women's Association for Socio Economic Development, Eramdan Kanba Apunba Lup, Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup and Poirei Leimarol Apunba Manipur have urged the government to identify and arrest all those involved in the murder of Akoijam Nonganba and ensure justice to the family of the deceased.
In a joint press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday, AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi reminded that besides Nonganba, many people have been slain by the NSCN-IM, and contended that the indifferent attitude of the government on the issue smacks of a secret agenda.
She further stated that if the culprits are let scot free and no actions taken against them, such acts of murder will continue to occur in the state.
Therefore, the government should shoulder the responsibility of exposing the sinister intention and mindset of the perpetrators and unravel the truth behind the murder of Nonganba at the earliest.
In case the genuine concern of the people is not reciprocated and addressed by the government then the six organisations will launch intense agitations, she cautioned.
