Superplate: KASC ease to fourth win as YWC brush aside CDCC

The MNCA Superplate Tournament on Thursday saw KASC notch up their fourth win as YWC outclassed CDCC by 81 runs to stay safe from the relegation zone.
KASC thumped YUCC by 133 runs in their Group B encounter at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak, Imphal East.
The win sees KASC level on eight points with YUCC but the latter remain second in their group standings by virtue of better NRR.
Electing to bat, KASC despite being dismissed in 34.4 overs still managed a competitive total of 235 with efforts by Muhammad Javed Aktar (58), Washim Akram (43), WM Rajak (31), Md Ali Khan (22), Md Farijuddin (22) and Md Babu (12).For YUCC, N Sanjit, K Punshiba, Devraj and N Kenedy picked up two wickets each as N Ra hulkumar and Shyam took one apiece.
In reply, YUCC could only muster 102 after they were bowled out in 26.2 overs.
The team suffered early setback when their openers Thoiba got dismissed for 2 and Thoungamba was out for a duck.
Batting at No 3, Rohit scored 23 and Sanjit, who played at No 5, made 34 and was the top performer in their run chase.
The duo's dismissal proved costly for YUCC as they never recovered.
Md Farijuddin led the scalping for KASC with a haul of three wickets as Washim Akram and Md Javed Aktar claimed two each.
Qurshid Alam chipped in with one wicket.
Md Javed Aktar was adjudged the man of the match.
YWC, meanwhile, pulled off a commanding 81-run success against CDCC to secure their second victory and stay safe from the relegation zone in Group A with four points from six matches.
On the other hand, it was CDCC's sixth consecutive defeat.
They are at the bottom of their group table.
YWC opted to bat and set a target of 256 for their opponents after their fell in 32.3 overs.
In the innings, Jiko Sorokhaibam made a mark dishing out a fine knock of 70 off 62 balls and Ngangbam Maheshkumar was impressed with an unbeaten 50 off 31 balls.
Other notable batters were Heisnam Manikanta (30) and Pukhrambam Prashantamani (28) as Seram Robinson, Ngangbam Bishwash and Maibam Sunash contributed 15 runs each to their total.
For CDCC, Khurshid Alam was the main wicket-taker with three scalps.
YWC took 32.3 overs to end CDCC's run chase at 174.Yenshenbam Vivek proved the hero for the YWC squad as he took five wickets in his eight-over spell, with Pukhrambam Prashantamani snapping three wickets and Maibam Sunash and Ngangbam Maheshkumar getting one each.
Md Ataur Rahaman (39) and Mutum Jodiba (30) were the main run-getters in CDCC's chase.
Yenshenbam Vivek took home the man of the match trophy.
