World Oral Health Day observance ends

The month-long World Oral Health Day observed by Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Dental College, Imphal concluded at RIMS Mini Auditorium, here, on Thursday.
The observance held to promote good oral health for an overall healthy body was kicked off on March 20 with a cyclothon to raise awareness on the issue among the general public.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, RIMS Dental College principal Prof B Praveen Reddy stressed on the importance of maintaining a good oral hygiene.
He mentioned that oral health is a fundamental aspect of our lives and it affects us in many ways, be it the way one eats, speaks and smiles and also our confidence and self-esteem and hence one must take care of it and give equal importance as the rest of our body.
Throughout the month-long observance, Dental College Department of Public Health Dentistry organised photography and reel making competition for its BDS students and staff on the theme 'Be Proud of your Mouth' .
Further, poem writing, essay writing and slogan writing competitions were conducted for school students on the topic 'Good teeth for good health'.
RIMS director Prof H Priyosakhi Devi, Hospital medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh and dean (Academics) Prof Akoijam Brogen Singh attended the valedictory function as presidium members.
Prizes were also distributed to winners of various com petitions held as a part of the observance along with release of IEC materials.
