Imphal, April 20 2023:
Former minister Oinam Lukhoi, who was disqualified for violating Anti-Defection Law of the Constitution of India, has said that he violated the Constitution intentionally so as to join ruling party and serve the people of Wangoi assembly constituency.
He made the revelation at the inauguration of a community hall constructed by him at the complex of Ibudhou Meijraolakpa, Irom Meijrao Maning Leikai on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the ex-MLA pointed out that there will always be difference between ruling and opposition MLAs in availing welfare benefits for their respective constituencies.
It is not the MLA but the people of the constituency who are losing such benefits by being in the opposition, which is why he violated the Constitution and joined the ruling party, Lukhoi reasoned.
The ex-MLA also listed out several projects, which were taken up and completed during his tenure and said that people of Wangoi AC missed the opportunity to have a minister.
He then assured of taking up further development projects in the constituency irrespective of his election results.
He also accused the sitting MLA of Wangoi AC of taking up road projects, whose work orders have already been awarded to him, and also of claiming credit for distributing old age pension cards while the beneficiaries were registered during his tenure.
