Thadou cultural festival Hun ends

The biggest cultural festival of the Thadou tribe, Hun 2023 end on Wednesday night with the participation of Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu as a showstopper for designer Robert Naorem's fashion parade at Brig M Thomas ground, Kangpokpi.
Apart from showcasing of various Thadou folk dances, songs and music, handloom and handicrafts, indigenous games and sports, tastes of Thadou cuisines, Thadou traditional attires, Thadou modern songs, Mister and Miss Thadou contests were held during the two-day event.
The presence of Harnaaz Sandhu as a show-stopper and the Mister and Miss contest apart from the Thadou indigenous games and sports were the main attractions of the event.
The closing ceremony was attended by MAHUD minister Yumnam Khemchand as chief guest while Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen and PHE minister L Susindro Meitei were present as functional president and guest of honour respectively.
MLAs Khongbantabam Ibomcha, Sagolsem Kebi, SS Olish and Kimneo Haokip Hangshing also attended the event apart from cooperation minister and local MLA Nemcha Kipgen.
Adorning Thadou traditional attire with a touch of Manipuri handloom, Harnaaz Sandhu walked the ramp with a host of models displaying well-designed different handloom products of the state.
The former Miss Universe, while interacting with the media at El-Shaddai before the fashion parade, said that people of Manipur are kind, loving and pure in their heart which really impressed her.
She also said that the Ima Market epitomises how women are respected in Manipur.
Later, Paomonsang Khongsai and Daisy Kimdeihoi Doungel both from Vengthah Ward No.3, Kangpokpi were crowned the coveted Mister and Miss Thadou titles carrying cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each.
While Lenminthang and Seigunthang Misao respectively bagged first and second runners-up position in Mister Thadou, Nengthenkim and Nengchamkim respectively bagged first and second runners position in Miss Thadou contest.
