Imphal, April 20 2023:
After signing of the Cessation of Operation (CoO) agreement between the two sides on December 27, 2022, the first round of the official and political talk between the armed Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and the Government of India (GOI) was held in New Delhi on Wednesday.
According to a statement of ZUF, the charter of political demands with relevent documents for references was submitted as the basis for discussion in a cordial manner during the talk and both sides have understood each others' positions and agreed to continue the dialogue on the dynamics of the Homeland demand at the earliest.
The ZUF statement issued by its deputy secretary, ministry of information & publicity Alur Seikho said the discussion on Wednesday affirmed to address the long drawn Zeliangrong political issues that were left unaddressed for decades with the passing away of Rani Gaidinliu, the then president of Zeliangrong People Convention and freedom fighter of India.
The legacy of Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu (Ranima) for a homeland of Zeliangrong people is now picked up by Zeliangrong United Front and processed for resolving the Zeliangrong political aspiration.
The first round of official and political talk has paved the way forward to define an ultimate political solution in fulfilment of the long cherished dream of the Zeliangrong kindred people, the statement added.
