Imphal, April 20 2023:
An expectant mother has died at RIMS after undergoing cesarean section twice.
Meanwhile the bereaved family has blamed the attending doctors and the RIMS authority for the death.
The deceased has been identified as one Hoineling Mangte (33) w/o Wahengbam Malemnganba (41) of Hiyanglam Waikhom Leikai.
Malemnganba said that he and his wife Hoineling went to RIMS on April 17 for routine check-up and Hoineling was admitted to the hospital on the same day for child delivery as per doctor's advice.
As the doctor said that Hoineling's haemoglobin level was very low, Malemnganba arranged sufficient number of blood bottles from the RIMS Blood Bank.
Hoineling delivered a baby boy through cesarean section yesterday.
However, Hoineling was frothing (in the mouth) and her abdomen also started swelling.
After seeing her condition, the doctor said that she was suffering from internal bleeding in the uterus.
Subsequently, a second CS was performed and Hoineling's uterus was removed.
But Hoineling's condition only grew worse and she expired this morning.
Malemnganba said that no blood transfusion was done to Hoineling until she was taken to trauma centre even though the doctor said that her haemoglobin level was low and the necessary volume of blood was arranged in advance.
Although Hoineling was taken to the operation theatre at around 11 am yesterday, operation was performed only at around 5 pm, the husband said.
"Serious communication gap was evident when we ran from pillar to post to get the necessary volume of blood", he said.
Praying that the tragedy he is suffering currently may not befall upon any other individual/family, Malemnganba appealed to the RIMS authority and the Government to take up befitting action against the erring doctors and officials.
