Thoubal, April 20 2023:
While appreciating the initiative taken up by the PHE Department for setting up a water supply scheme at Heirok which will eventually ensure supply of potable water, people of Heirok have appealed to all concerned to stop disturbing the process on the ground that no sub-contract has engaged for construction of the scheme.
Addressing media persons in this regard at Ingourok Primary School ground on Thursday, Keisham Tompishak, representing the people of Heirok, said that though there is a river flowing in Ingourok area, there is the need to set up a water supply scheme as the water of the river gets murky during rainy season whereas during the summer months the water dries up.
Considering the problems faced by the people of Ingourok, it is very fortunate that the chief minister and the PHE minister have decided to set up a water supply scheme in Ingourok.
However, it is lamentable that MLA of Heirok is causing disturbance to the work on the ground that no sub-contract has engaged of the scheme.
He further informed that water supply Schemes taken up at three different places in Heirok have been put on halt following intervention from the local MLA and difference of opinion with the contractors taking up the work.
