Union MoS takes stock of situation in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, April 20 2023:
Union Minister of State (MoS) for Education Annapurna Devi accompanied by Government officials inspected Ava/Women market, Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, SHGs under VDVK and District Hospital today during her two-day tour programme.
Earlier in the day, the team held an interaction programme with the Ukhrul District Administration and the public at the DRDA Conference hall Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS welcomed the Central Ministerial team and gave a brief introduction of Ukhrul district.
It was followed by powerpoint presentations by various departments like ZEO, ADC, ICDS, District Social Welfare, Health Department, PHED, Agriculture, DIC, Forest Department, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency (MDRRDA), Veterinary Department, CAF& PD and E District.

The problems and issues of the district departments were discussed at length for efficient functioning during the interaction programme with the District Administration.
Addressing the gathering, Annapurna Devi stated that after BJP came into power in 2017, bandhs and blockades have reduced considerably and the State is now marching towards the path of development.
She asserted, 'We are witnessing an array of significant changes in Manipur in every sector and the State has become the export and international trade Centre of the country' .
It should be ensured that the Central and State beneficiaries scheme or grants reach the targeted beneficiaries, she added.
She also distributed health cards under CMHT & PMJAY, aids and appliances under ADIP, PMFME, MUDRA & PMEGP schemes, seed and water pump sets and ration to migrant workers.
With regard to the education sector of the district, the Minister was apprised of the number of schools and its conditions, benefits provided to the students such as distribution of free school uniforms and textbooks and financial assistance in the form of stipend to children with special needs, transport allowance, escort allowance etc.
Further it was informed that under School Fagathansi Mission in the district, 16 schools have been facilitated with rain water harvesting while 15 Barrack type teachers' quarters have been constructed and 51 upgradation of schools' extensions have been completed under State Plan & NLCPR since 2011 till date.
A plantation programme was held in the office complex led by Annapurna Devi.
Today's programme was also attended by SP Ningshem Vashum IPS; S Shangam, IFS; CEO David Kashungnao MCS; ADM Chunglenmang Kipgen, MCS; SDO UKhrul and Chingai Suranjoy Maibam Singh; SDO Jessami Mangminlen Vaiphei, MCS; AC to DC Rohini Kumar, MCS; ACF Amit Khaler, IFS among other DLOs.
