Meiphung Foundation to host Wung Football League at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, April 20 2023:
Meiphung Foundation is all set to host the first edition of the Wung Football League which will begin on April 22 at Ukhrul under the aegis of Ukhrul District Sport Association ( UDSA) .
According to the organiser, six teams from Ukhrul and another two from Kamjong will participate in the league.
The teams are United Brothers Football Club (Ukhrul), Hunphung Phungcham Football Association (Ukhrul), Haokok Football Club (Ukhrul), Pheichon Football Club (Ukhrul), Vareihao Football Academy (Ukhrul), Meiphung FC (Ukhrul), North East Regional Athletic Union (Kamjong), and Oriental Club Phungyar (Kamjong) .
The Wung Football League will continue till the 13th of May 2023 .
The organiser informed that all the eight teams will face one another in a single robin round format and the team which scored maximum points will be crowned Wung Football League Champions which carry a cash prize of Rs 2.2 lakh.
The other four teams who make it to the top five will also play each other for the runners up title which has a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Individual prizes for various categories will also be given to outstanding players, coaches and referees.
All the league matches will be telecast on the Meiphung Productions Youtube channel in collaboration with the Indigenous Hills Network.
The opening match of the league will be played between Hungphun Phungcham Football Association (HPFA) and Meiphung FC at 1 pm .
