SHADOW, OSCAR romp in MNCA Plate Tournament

SHADOW (Thangmeiband) and OSCAR (Paona Bazar) were easy winners in the Saturday matches of the 7th MNCA Plate Tournament.
SHADOW outplayed YPHU (Lalambung Makhong) by five wickets in their Group A encounter at Oriental College.
The result saw the Thangmeiband side move up to the second place of their group, level on six points from four matches with RRCC (Churachandpur), who are leading the group table on better NRR.
YPHU, who opted to bat, had a miserable innings as they were bundled out for 103 in 18 overs.
Sagatpam Lanchenba wreaked havoc on the YPHU batting lineup.
The SHADOW bowler scalped four wickets in his three-over spell, bowled a maiden and conceded just 12 runs.
Guite Khualminlian and Paras Sharma di their bit with two wickets each while Reolin Oinam took one.
For YPHU, Irom Sunny Singh (22) was the lone bright spot who crossed 20-run mark.
In reply, SHADOW achieved the target in 18.1 overs for the loss of five wickets.
Paras Sharma turned out to be the star performer for the Thangmeiband squad in the chase by racking up an unbeaten 68 off 56 balls, in addition to his two wickets earlier.
Sagatpam Lanchenba (7), Guite Khualminlian (6), Dennis (4) and Reolin Oinam (3) were other contributors in their triumph.
Bishworaj Sharma picked up all five wickets for YPHU but his prolific effort went in vain.
Paras Sharma bagged the man of the match accolade for his unbeaten 68 and two wickets.
OSCAR, meanwhile, overpowered MPA (Kakching) by 213 runs at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
The win propelled the Paona Bazar team to fourth place in the Group B standings with six points from four matches.
Electing to bat, OSCAR posted a competitive total of 259 after being dismissed in 38.3 overs.
Nongmaithem Bijendro (40), Ringku Kangujam (37), T Santosh (37), Sanjit Thounaojam (36), Zenith Nongmaithem (25 not out) and Sorokhaibam Samson (25) were key contributors in their innings.
OSCAR then took 13.2 overs to skittle out MPA for a meagre 46.In the attack, Zenith Nongmaithem stole the show with five wickets off his five overs while Boocker Kangjam claimed two scalps, with Ringku, Pawankumar and Pursaraj accounting for one wicket apiece as OSCAR enjoyed an overwhelming success on Saturday.
Zenith Nongmaithem, who scored 25 (not out) and took five wickets, was named the man of the match.
