38th Drivers' Day observed across state

Imphal, January 14 2023:
As in other parts of the state, Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA), Highway Truck Owners' Organisation, Senapati District Truck Owners Association (SDTOA) and All Manipur Gorkha Truck Drivers' and Owners' Association Jointly observed the 38th Drivers' Day at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of the drivers who lost their lives while performing their duties.
The observance was attended by Social Welfare minister Heikham Dingo as chief guest, while Transport and Veterinary secretary Michael Achom, All Manipur Apunba Meitei Leima Meira Lup president K Guni Leima, Kanglamei president Y Lairik Leima, MDA president Saikhom Babudhon and SDTOA president Daikho Sani were also present as members on the dais.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union (AMPADU) observed the 34th Drivers' Day near Malom Oil Depot on Saturday.
The observance was attended by All India Hoad Transport Workers' Federation (AIRTWF) national secretary Jiban Krishna Saha as chief guest, IOC Limited Depot manager (Ops) Nga-horning Kashung as guest of honour and CITU Manipur convenor Kshetrimayum Shanta as president.
Speaking on the occasion, Jiban Krishna Saha assured of taking up the issues faced by the drivers and motor workers of Manipur at the national level.
During the function, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of deceased drivers.
AMPADU president Yumkham Bhupendra also appreciated the surviving families of the drivers on the occasion.
THOUBAL: All Heirok Auto Owners & Drivers' Action Committee observed the 16th Drivers' Day at Heirok Part-2 Mayai Leikai Ground, Thoubal district on Saturday.
Observed under the theme of "Sacrifice for All", the programme was attended by Thoubal District Auto Association Apunba secretary Ningthoujam Jiban, Manipur Motor general manager HC Jain, Manipur Motor member Ningthoujam Surshanta, Keisham Bini-ta and Champra Thong to Wangjing Association secretary Sanasam Chaoba as presidium members.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the deceased auto drivers of the Association.
Later, former office bearers of the Association, existing drivers and families of the deceased drivers were honoured with simple gifts.
JIRIBAM: All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers' Union (AJRTDU) Jiribam observed Driver's Day at Hilghat community hall, Jiribam on Saturday.
Manipur Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board chairperson K Sarat Singh and AJRTDU president M Tombabu attended the observance as chief guest and president respectively, while AJRTDU advisors Dr H Joykumar and Ch Mukta Singh, auditor N Lakhi Kumar and BJP Jiribam Mandal president K Jadu were guests of honour.
During the observance, floral respects were paid to the portraits of deceased drivers, followed by presentation of gift to the families of the deceased drivers and also to the existing drivers.
KAKCHING: Kakching Pallel Tata Magic Owners' and Drivers' Association observed the 34th Drivers' Day at Leingang Khongnang Makhong Kakching on Saturday.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of two deceased drivers of the Association namely Salam Prem of Kakching Sumak Leikai and Mayanglamabam Ibotombi of Kakching Khongnang Mari Phangba Makha Lou.
Gifts were also presented to the families of the two drivers and also to the other drivers under the Association.
The observance was attended by Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar as chief guest, and Kakching Pallel Tata Magic Owners and Drivers Association president and Kakching Municipal Council ex-councillor Naorem Lukhoi as president.
