Imphal, January 14 2023:
The JAC of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) has appealed to the government to release the pending pensionary benefits of pensioners worth more than Rs 600 crore.
Addressing media persons in this regard at MI department campus, Lamphelpat, here, on Saturday, JAC general secretary Th Mocha said that there are around 45,000 pensioners in Manipur and 13,000 family pensioners while around 3,000 employees would retire within February this year.
Unfortunately, the government is yet to release pensionary benefits worth more than Rs 600 crore.
The amount will be increased when employees nearing service superannuation in January and February, 2023 become pensioners, he said and appealed to the government to release the pending pensionary benefits at the earliest.
He then suggested to the government that extension of service period of employees by two years would solve the problem.
Highlighting other demands of the JAC, Th Mocha said that the DA and DR of state government employees till the month of December, 2022 was 28 percent compared to the central government employees enjoying 38 percent.
The 10 percent gap between the central and state employees is very high, he said and appealed to the state government to provide DA and DR of the state government employees at par with the central government as this will help in maintaining per capita income of the state.
On another demands, Th Mocha pressed for immediate convening of minimum wage board meeting and fixing the new wage rates for casual and muster roll employees.
