41st general conference of Maram Students' Union kicks off

The 41st General Conference of Maram Students Union/ Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (MKS) began today at Maram Khullen village in Senapati district under the theme, "Connecting to Roots".
The program was attended by Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh; Boco Kashung, president MKS; K Raisong, president Maram Union; Francis Ngajokpa, former Minister; K Raina, former Deputy Speaker; Yonuo Peter, president Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and RN Hannah, president Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh stated that People without the knowledge of their history, origin and culture are like trees without roots.
"If one knows where one is from, it is harder for people to stop them from where they are going.
A tree's beauty lies in its branches, but its strength lies in the root.
It is the roots which give strength to the tree and not the branches", he added.
Stressing on the importance of tradition, he opined that the beautiful cultural heritage and traditional attire of the Maram community should be preserved for the future generation.
He continued that the State has been improved in many sectors during the past few years under the able leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
"The road connectivity, telecommunication system, tourism, law & order, health system, etc.
have been improved", said the Minister while adding that the uniqueness of the State has also attracted outsiders with the intention to visit and explore its beauty.
It may be mentioned that N Biren Singh also extended his warm wishes to the gathering virtually through video conference.
Angami Students Union and Chakesang Students Union from Nagaland delighted the gathering with their folk tunes.
