Remanded to NIA custody

Imphal, January 14 2023:
Four persons including Myanmar Nationals who were arrested in connection with the terror funding/extortion for Manipur based underground outfit have been remanded into seven days NIA custody for further investigations of the case after they were produced before the Duty Magistrate concerned today.
It may be noted that a combined team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) Imphal Branch and personnel of 5th Assam Rifles arrested the four persons namely Suraj Jaswal, Santosh Gupta, Deepak Sharma and Napolean during a raid in five different places of Moreh town in connection with the terror funding for an underground outfit and seized Rs 30 lakhs from their possession, said a statement by the Police The Duty Magistrate on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the NIA remanded the accused persons into seven days NIA custody till January 20, 2023 .
The police further informed that a team of NIA Delhi is presently stationed in the State to carry out joint operations/raids along with NIA Imphal Branch in different locations across Manipur.
